The solitary life of a loner

Leading a solitary life means that you have chosen to live in seclusion from the company of the larger community. Huge amounts of your time will be spent with minimal company. It is a peaceful way of life that offers serenity to an introvert that does not want to socialize as much with the society. A solitary life allows a person to lead life on terms since there is plenty of freedom to chose what to pursue and what to with your time. The idea of solitary living is not a convectional way of living as it is not widely accepted among members of the community.

To pick on a good example to show a group of people who have chosen to lead a solitary life, nuns and priests make a fine reference. Their lives are led outside the ordinary realities of society. Nuns in a convent have a daily schedule of duties that need to be attended to. Their way of life although unconventional is what they find gratifying. The nuns have a sisterhood providing all the company they need demonstrating their choice in leading a solitary way of life. Priests have to for go the comfort that comes with having a family putting their religious convictions first.

In the beginning, solitary life appears

Living your life in seclusion can have a heavy effect on your mental health. People are social animals wired to seek out company in their life. Having people around you makes it easier to solve problems that any member of the group has. Choosing a lonely life means that you have denied yourself the help that the society could have offered. With loneliness, you start experiencing a feeling of abandonment that if not checked can lead to depression. People that lead solitary lives are more likely to fall victims of depression because they have nobody to talk to about their issues.

In the beginning, solitary life appears serene and peaceful offering the illusion of peace of mind. This is what draws people to living in seclusion because of the escape it offers however temporary. The first stages are filled with the excitement that comes with profound freedom.

The society is not accepting of

After a while everything becomes too routine to bear. There is nobody to share all your happy moments with or to tell of all your miseries. This robs you of the feeling of fulfillment in everything that you do, suddenly everything feels empty and pointless. There is joy and fulfillment that comes with providing for others or helping them, you feel useful. This makes you belong as an important member of the society in your way the loner leading a solitary life has to struggle with an identity crisis.

The society is not accepting of members who chose to lead a solitary way of life. By denying the community of their input they limit how productive the society can be. A doctor leading a solitary way of life cannot see his patients and by so doing denies them the opportunity to access his services. A life of seclusion is a lonely decision that is only beneficial to the loner but harms the community. For the society to run smoothly different members have to make their contributions. Loners negate this responsibility and run off to live in their bubble.

The solitary life of a loner

Solitary living makes it impossible for family life to flourish as it tears at the bonds that tie the family unit. Members of the family that subscribe to a life of seclusion are difficult to deal with because they are poor at playing their part in building a strong family. Loners have problems starting families because they are not used to the idea of sharing their living space. They are unable to fit in with other members of the society who have families of their own due to this failure to mingle with others.

Workplaces prefer their workers to have active social circles and vibrant personalities. This makes it easier to trust such workers to deliver because of their ability to get along with others. Having outgoing workers assures you there will be proper team work as every member of your staff is a team player. Workers leading solitary lives are not as productive as their outgoing counterparts that can play diverse roles.
